Chapter 12: Jedrek

“So she really wasn’t my fantasy? She went on a date with someone else and didn’t come back?” I sat at the bar and sipped my beer.

“There might be more to it than that.” Angelina shrugged. “I need to get a few people out of here so I can close up. I’ll be back in a few minutes.”

I was glad that I didn’t have to leave because I fully intended to drink the bar’s entire beer supply after finding out that Savannah didn’t come back from her date. I had hoped I was more than a one night stand and while I pushed her to embrace the second piece of her fantasy, I had hoped it would end with her returning to my arms. I realized I had been a fool to even think of falling for a virgin who had no idea what she wanted. I gave her a taste and set her free in the world. At least I would be her first—I had that if I didn’t have her. I finished my beer, tapped the bar, and waited for another.

“Okay, I think they’re all gone. I’m going to have to increase security, though; apparently there are some assholes harassing some of the guests when they go to their car.” She grumbled and looked over at the bartender. “Can I get a gin and tonic?”

“Yes ma’am.” He nodded and fixed her drink before handing me another beer.

“Assholes, you say? I’m pretty good at dealing with those.” I sipped my beer. “At least I was at one time.”

“No, you need to keep that life in the past. We’re trying to build you a new life with the fantasy you want, and I don’t think that involves getting your hands dirty like you used to.” She waved her hand in the air. “I’ll get some extra guys outside. It isn’t the first time someone heard about this place and made noise trying to get in.”

“Yeah, well, that was me not very long ago.” I chuckled and sipped my beer again.

“You were different, though. I could see something in your eyes that said you needed help. That’s the only reason I made an exception and let you in. Most people don’t get in here without an invitation.” She lifted her drink to her lips.

“So what now? Obviously the fantasy you set up for me didn’t work out. Do I get someone else?” I exhaled sharply and dug my cigarettes out of my pocket. “I liked Savannah. She was nice and we had some common interests.”

“You think the fantasy is over?” She chuckled and shook her head. “Jedrek, this is all part of the fantasy. We’re still building it.”

“Obviously not if she didn’t come back.” I shook my head back and forth.

“You’re not seeing the big picture, but it’s coming, I promise. I have ran the program several times. It always comes out the same way. Each piece of Savannah’s fantasy is important. She’ll be back, and tomorrow she’ll go out with someone else.
